“I think people need to understand, whatever happens to Toni also happens to me,” sey ni direk Paul sa solo mediacon niya na ginanap sa Winford Hotel, Manila last Monday.
“I mean, we’re married, we’re one, and you know, of course, as a husband, you need to validate also what she’s going through.”
“So, you can’t just say, ‘don’t mind it,’ you know, ‘let it go’ because some of the hateful words, some of the hateful criticisms came from people the people that she really admired and that she really loved,” aniya.
“In every movie, you have your protagonist. So, I see that as our antagonists. I mean, that’s just what it is. That’s what makes life exciting. We have a little bit of conflict, a little bit of drama,” he said.
“It is impossible to please everybody. Study history, study politics, showbusiness, even the best directors in the world, the best actors in the world have critics that are also very respectable.
“I’m a big fan of Steven Spielberg. Imagine that he still has critics. And we’re talking about worldwide criticism.
“So, what Tony and I have come to realize, that’s their roles in our lives. Sila ang antagonists and we just have to embrace it,” he explained.
“Online, naggaganun ka sa asawa ko, naggagaganu’n ka sa akin, but when I see them, ‘uy, direk, kumusta? How are you?’ So, is it true? Do you really don’t like me or what?” kuwento ni Direk.
Kaya hindi na rin daw siya naniniwala sa sinasabi ng ibang bashers unless sabihin sa kanya straight to his face. ‘Yung iba naman daw ay mga spur of the moment hatred lang na kinabukasan ay wala na.
“So, that’s why maybe I’m able to move on because if that colleague said something about me or my wife, that was then. Eh we’re living in the now. I’ve moved on na.
“Like I said, honestly, I’ve never met anybody that has publicly spoken against me and my wife. Not in my face they told me how they felt. So, maybe it’s not real, I don’t know,” sey pa ng mister ni Toni.
Samantala, excited na si direk Paul sa darating na 48th Metro Manila Film Festival kung saan ay isa nga sa official entries ang pelikulang ‘My Teacher’ na idinirihe niya starring his wife and Joey de Leon.
“Hopefully, this will also start and signify the comeback of cinemas and of course the industry that we all love so much, the film industry,” sey ni direk.
“So hopefully you all can support ‘My Teacher’ and, of course, the other seven entries also. And may this be the beginning of a merry Christmas and hopefully the rollback to all of us going back to the cinemas. I know we all miss it so much,” he said.
