Nanawagan si Senador Grace Poe sa mga awtoridad na pigilan ang mga mobile phone scammer habang nagsasagawa pa ng SIM card registration.
Ginawa ni Poe ang panawagan sa gitna ng patuloy na pamamayagpag ng mga scammer sa kabila ng ipinasang batas para sa pagpaparehistro ng SIM card.
“There are still SIM farms out there and spoofing tools. Sinister minds will never stop hatching ways of stealing information and duping people,” sabi ni Poe na pangunahing may-akda ng SIM Registration Act.
Bagama’t inihayag ng Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) na nababawasan na ang spam messages, hindi umano dapat balewalain ang kakayahan ng mga scammer.
“With the law, we expect all fraudulent and unwanted text messages to die a natural death. But we must not let our guard down,” babala ni Poe.
Samantala, hinimok ni Poe ang DICT at mga telecommunication company na tapusin na ang pagrehistro ng mga SIM card bago ang deadline nito sa Abril 26, 2023.
Una nang sinabi ng DICT na maaaring palawigin ang SIM card registration.
“The extension period, if so decided by the DICT, will be for the legitimate subscribers to register and avoid disruption in their mobile phone services. This should not extend the heydays of the scammers,” ayon naman kay Poe. (Dindo Matining)
