Nanganganib ang Korean girl group na NewJeans na hindi mabigyan ng chance na makapag-perform sa Vietnam. Ang dahilan, ang alleged political affiliations ng isa sa miyembro ng NewJeans na si Hanni.
Simula kasi noong February 2023 nakatanggap siya na ng mga political backlash sa Vietnam. Si Hanni ay ipinanganak sa Melbourne, Australia pero ang kanyang mga magulang at grandparents ay mula sa Vietnam.
Ang isa sa biggest K-pop communities sa Vietnam, ang Meta, K Crush Động ang nag-start na diumano’y nag-post ng family pictures ni Hanni. At sa naturang picture raw, spotted ang lumang emblem ng South Vietnamese regime na nasa loob ng family house at businesses nila Hanni.
Dahil dito, naakusahan ang pamilya ni Hanni na supporter ng
South Vietnam o ng Republic of Vietnam. It was the U.S.-backed state that existed from 1955 until the end of the Vietnam War in 1975.
Ngayon, ang Vietnamese Communist Party ang siyang nag-govern sa Vietnam. Diumano, ang loyalty o association daw ng pamilya ni Hanni sa South Vietnam ay nag-result ng major backlash against the idol member.
Ang iba ay may espekulasyon pa na ang Vietnamese Communist Party ay sine-censor umano ang mga content na related sa NewJeans dahil sa pangyayaring ito.
Ganunpaman, hindi naman lahat ay galit kay Hanni at sa NewJeans. Pero malakas nga raw ang puwersa ng mga political societal pressure. Isang insider sa Vietnam ang nag-comment na, “There certainly are fans who support NewJeans regardless of ongoing political arguments but it is iffy to overtly support them in public. But there was no official censorship from the government or the media.”
Ayon pa rito, “NewJeans and Hanni are well recognized in Vietnam but it is true that there are many people who are against the group. And it seems unlikely that NewJeans will be permitted to perform in Vietnam by the government.”
