Aquino ng NFA namumuro kay Digong sa rice supply

Matapos busalan sa isyu ng supply ng bigas, pinahaharap ni Pangulong Rodrigo ‘Digong’ Duterte sa cabinet cluster meeting sa susunod na buwan si National Food Authority (NFA) Administrator Jason Aquino kaugnay sa usapin ng supply ng NFA rice.

Sinabi kahapon ni Presidential spokesman Harry Roque na mismong si Pangulong Duterte ang nag-utos para imbitahin sa Malacañang si Aquino at personal na marinig sa opisyal kung ano ang totoo sa isyu ng supply ng bigas.

Matatandaang naging mainit ang isyu sa kakapusan umano ng supply ng bigas noong Pebrero partikular ang ibinebenta ng NFA na kinontra naman ng NFA Council at maging ng Department of Agriculture (DA).

Sinabi ni Roque na naging malawak ang diskusyon sa isyu ng bigas sa Cabinet meeting kaya’t nais ng Presidente na marinig mismo kay Aquino ang tunay na estado ng supply ng bigas sa bansa.

“The President instruc­ted that there be a cluster Cabinet meeting for about two hours in the next Ca­binet meeting next month and Mr. Jayson Aquino to that meeting.

There was an acknow­ledgement that statements made by the NFA ­administrator caused panic, which probably caused prices to rise. There was some disagreement on the figures presented yesterday by the NFA Council, but ultimately it was agreed that there is no rice shortage, because the figure of only 1.5 days worth of supply of rice was misleading. That was – again, the 1.5 days is only if it is NFA that is the only supplier of rice in the Philippines, which is not the case, because as I repeat, they supply a minority of our rice requirements,” ani Roque.
