Jawo, 9 pa iluluklok sa Hall of Fame

GAGANAPIN ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) ang matagal na hinhintay na pagluluklok sa 10 personalidad sa sports kasama ang Living Legend ng basketball na si Robert Jaworski sa 4th Enshrinement Ceremony ng Philippine Sports Hall of Fame sa Hulyo 18.

Ipinaalam ni PSC Chairman William “Butch” Ramirez ang pagsasagawa ng aktibidad na parte sa responsibilidad ng ahensiya base sa Republic Act 6847 na magsisismula alas-7 ng gabi sa pagkilala sa mga Filipino sports heroes na iangat sa natatanging samahan ng Philippine Sports Hall of Fame (PSHOF).

Ang bumubuo sa ikaapat na batch ng Hall of Famers ay sina Paulino Alcantara (football), Eric Buhain (swimming), Dionisio Calvo (basketball at football coach), Arianne Cerdena (bowling), Robert Jaworski Sr. (basketball), Gertrudes Lozada (swimming), Elma Muros-Posadas (athletics), Rogelio Onofre (athletics), Leopoldo Serrantes (boxing) at si Roel Velasco (boxing).

“I am pleased to have our Filipino sports heroes to be finally recognixed and congratulations to all the 4th batch enshrines,” sabi ni Ramirez, na chairman ng PSHOF selection committee, na nakatakdang magtungo sa nausog na 2020 Tokyo Olympics upang tulungan at bigyan ng suporta ang 19 na pambansang atleta na sasagupa sa torneo.

Ang 10 enshrinees ay tatanggap kada isa ng P200,000 cash at ang eleganteng PSHOF trophy.

Pinakaunang ginawaran ng pagkilala noong 2010 sina Simeon Toribio at Miguel White (athletics), Carlos Loyzaga (basketball), Ceferino Garcia, Gabriel Elorde, José Villanueva, Pancho Villa at Anthony Villanueva (boxing), Teofilo Yldefonso (swimming) at ang 1954 Philippine men’s national team (basketball).

Ikalwang batch noong 2016 nakasama sina Inocencia Solis, Isaac Gómez at Mona Sulaiman (athletics), Edgardo Ocampo, Kurt Bachmann at Mariano Tolentino (basketball), Eugene Torre (chess), Raymundo Deyro, Johnny Jose at Felicisimo Ampon (lawn tennis), Adolfo Feliciano at Martin Gison (shooting), Gerardo Rosario, Mohammad Mala at Jacinto Cayco, Haydee Coloso-Espino (swimming) at Salvador del Rosario (weightlifting).

Ang ikatlong batch noong 2018 ay binubuo nina Lydia De Vega at Josephine dela Viña (athletics), Filomeno Codiñera (baseball), Loreto Carbonell at Ambrosio Padilla (basketball), Olivia Coo, Lita dela Rosa at Paeng Nepomuceno (bowling), Erbito Salavarria (boxing) at Ben Arda (golf). (Lito Oredo)
