Mga illegal logger timbog ng DENR

Apat na illegal logger ang naares­to ng Environmental Law Enforce­ment and Protection Service (ELEPS) ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) sa Tabuk, Kalinga noong Setyembre 2.

Ang operasyon ay pinangunahan ng DENR-ELEPS kasama ang Kalinga Provincial and Community Environ­ment and Natural Resources, DENR-Cordillera Administrative Region, at DENR’s Anti-Illegal Logging Task Force (AILTF) na naging dahilan ng pagkakakumpiska ng ilegal na pinu­tol na puno ng acacia, at chainsaw.

Ang mga naaresto na sina Vincent Dalanao, Archie Cadalina, Victor Manya-aw, at Fioni Tamaw ay sasampahan ng kasong paglabag sa Section 77 ng Presidential Decree 705 o Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines, at Section 7(4) ng Republic Act 9175 o Chainsaw Act.

“Our dedicated men and women in our enforcement arm just proved once again that we are committed to constantly protect our environment and natural resources even in the face of a deadly pandemic,” sambit ni DENR Secretary Roy Cimatu.

Nito lang Agosto, pinag-usapan ng DENR at ng Department of Trade and Industry ang mga regu­lasyon tungkol sa pagbili at pag­bebenta ng chainsaw online. (Riz Dominguez)
