Pinoy na may HIV pumalo sa 7K

Patuloy ang paglobo ng bilang ng mga Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) na nagkaroon ng Human Immune Deficiency Virus (HIV) at ito’y lagpas na umano sa 7,000 mark ngayong taon, ayon sa ACTC–OFW Coalition of Organization.

“The cumulative number of OFWs confirmed as HIV-positive could reach more than 7,200 by the end of the year, at the rate new cases are ­being discovered,” sabi ni ACTS-OFW chairman Aniceto Bertiz III.

Ayon kay Bertiz, nasa 444 ang bagong naitalang kaso ng HIV-po­sitive OFWs mula Enero hanggang Mayo ngayong taon na mas mataas ng 21 porsiyento kung ikukumpara noong nakaraang taon.

“All told, the total number of OFWs found living with HIV has reached 6,699 since 1984, when the government first began passive surveillance of the virus,” dagdag pa nito.

Hinimok ng dating party list representative ang mga pauwing OFW na sakaling na-exposed sa HIV ay magpagamot na agad upang magkaroon pa ng produktibong buhay. (Prince Golez)
