UP sementeryo ng mga baboy na may ASF

Inihayag ng pamunuan ng Department of Agriculture (DA) at Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), na plano nilang ibaon ang mga baboy na isinaila­lim sa ‘culling’ o pagpatay dahil sa sakit na African Swine Flu (ASF) sa campus ng University of the Philippines sa Quezon City.

“Right off the bat, we vehemently deny accusations that the burial of 121 African Swine Fever-infec­ted pigs was done secretly. In fact, consultative mee­tings were held with barangay officials, hog raisers and the UP administration. The burial only proceeded after the approval of the UP Chancellor for the use of the land as burial site and the concurrence from all concerned stakeholders. Also, nothing was done outside of accepted protocols in dealing with ASF,” batay sa ipinalabas na statement ng DA.

Ang pagbabaon ng may 121 na baboy na luma­bas na positibo sa ASF ay sa loob ng 1-kilo­meter radius, base sa 1-7-10 ASF protocols upang maiwasan ang pagkalat pa ng virus sa ibang barangay.

Nabatid sa ASF assessment team, ng QC Vete­rinary’s Office, EPWMD at QC Health, na nakikita nilang sa loob ng Brgy. UP Campus ang tamang lugar para maging ‘burial site’ ng mga baboy na pinapatay dahil sa ASF.

Gayunman, nakikipag-ugnayan pa umano ang team sa UP Chancellor para pagpayag nito na gamiting ‘burial grounds’ ng ASF-infected pigs ang loob ng compound ng uni­bersidad. (Dolly Cabreza)
